Laser Scanning for Equipment General Arrangement Drawings

This is a project in which we generated 2D and 3D model General Arrangement drawings of equipment in a steel mill. Built in the early 90’s, they had no up-to-date drawings of what was currently in their melt shop.

Our team went in with our Leica laser scanners to scan their shop. Then using the point cloud data, we generated the 3D model and 2D drawings. This has helped the mill with ongoing upgrades, preventative maintenance, and training. Since the initial project was completed, we have returned from time to time to keep the General Arrangement model and drawings up to date with equipment changes.
